GREEN SPRING VALLEY HOUNDS CUBBING CAMP

The masters of G.S.V.H.C invite you to Cubbing Camp August 23-25, 2009. The format this year will be as follows:

Sunday 9 AM: Kennel Tour followed by "Houndless Hunt", arrive ready to ride but leave your horses on the trailers until we have seen the hounds.

Sunday 6 PM: Pot Luck Supper and "Grill the Staff" Seminar, all you ever wanted to know about Cub-Hunting but were to shy/smart/sleepy to ask. Members, friends and family are invited to attend, call Sheila to R.S.V.P : 410-374-0661,
Monday & Tuesday 06:30 AM Riding out from the Kennels

Cub Hunting is Training Camp for the Rookies (new entry hounds), as well as the second year hounds, who are still a bit green.  It also trains the young foxes to get up and run.  And it can be perfect for starting a young horse, as we do have days where we can just stand and listen to the hound music. 

Since this is such a formative time for the young hounds, it is very important for all riders to stay out of their way at any cost.  Only staff should speak to hounds.  The field should stay as tight as possible to avoid getting in the way of hounds, foxes and staff.  Stay out of the covert - if one becomes separated and needs to catch up to the field, take the long way around the outside. 

There is nothing better than being out on a beautiful morning at sunrise and hearing hounds screaming in the corn and woods.  Always remember that this is the hounds' time to make their mark and we want to give every one the best chance of making the team.
