Foxhall Farm Trophy Team Chase 2010
|
Foxhall P. Keene initiated a race over timber at his beloved Monkton home, Foxhall Farm, on October 30, 1920. The race was about four and one half miles long and about thirty fences including water jumps, some say that it easily rivaled the Maryland Hunt Cup Course. The teams consisted of three regular followers of a recognized hunt. To honor the winning team, Keene commissioned a challenge cup, which was to be held by the victorious hunt until the next race. It is truly a magnificent trophy and easily the finest the sport has to offer.
In 2009, The Foxhall Farm Cup returned to Green Spring Valley Hounds thanks to the team of Michele Durbin, Jody Petty, Blair Wyatt and Northwood Stables. Green Springs wants to celebrate last year’s winning team and all the former teams who have brought home the Foxhall Farm Cup like Frank Bonsal’s Team in 1954 & 1955 by keeping the Trophy at Green Spring. Join us on Sunday, March 14th for the 90th running of the Foxhall Farm Trophy Team Chase held at Green Spring Valley Hunt Club.
